Next generation M5 powered iPad Pro 13 stars in unboxing video, gets compared to its predecessor

Apple is expected to release some new iPads soon, perhaps in October. So we're clearly at least a few weeks away from their official debut. That, however, hasn't stopped one Russian YouTuber from presenting the M5 powered iPad Pro in the video you can see embedded below. It's in Russian, of course, but if you have access to YouTube's auto-dubbing feature, do try it - it's surprisingly good, at least for this particular video, in getting the points across, even though the voice does sound a bit mechanical. The M5 iPad Pro will ship in an identical box to that used by the M4 iPad Pro....

Redmi Pad 2 Pro hands-on

Xiaomi hosted a big event this week where we saw the debut of several new devices, including the Redmi Pad 2 Pro. We got to test out the Pad 2 Pro with the Matte Glass screen, and these are our first impressions. For a €380 tablet, the Redmi Pad 2 Pro Matte Glass Version looks and feels like a more expensive device. It brings an aluminum unibody, which is cool to the touch, and at 610 grams, it has some heft to it, but not in a bad way. It actually feels lighter than what you’d expect from a tablet of this size, and it's fairly slim too at 7.5mm. The 12.1-inch IPS LCD features a...

Weekly poll results: Sony fans love the Xperia 10 VII

Sony makes phones like no other company on the market, but Sony fans are one of a kind too – they came out in force in last week’s poll and showed strong support for the Sony Xperia 10 VII. The new mid-ranger changes things up while staying true to the Xperia spirit. The perfectly rectangular display, the 3.5mm headphone jack and the microSD slot are must-haves for some and they also happen to be things you can’t get anywhere else. Not in this segment, anyway. There were some concerns about the price. Still, the vote went 5:1 in favor of “I want one” vs. “no, not at this price”. The...

iPhone Air impresses with durability and almost matches the iPhone 17 Pro

Allstate Protection Plans evaluated how durable the new iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro are with some more scientific drop and bend tests. The purpose of the test was to assess how the new designs have affected durability and provide people with a sense of what might happen during everyday use. Starting with the bend, the iPhone 17 Pro withstood more than 90 kg of pressure, while the Air bent at 86 kg of pressure, despite being only 5.6 mm thick. Both devices remained functional after being bent, and testers say this is more than any scenario under everyday use would demand. It's clear...

A few days ago we got our first look at the design changes coming in this upcoming release, and today courtesy of a teardown of a One UI 8.5 build there's additional news about a new feature that will be built in. We're talking about the ability to double tap the back of the phone to perform an action. This has been available in some other Android skins for quite a while now, and in fact you can even get it in One UI, but only using the Good Lock app, the functionality isn't built right...

Now, leakster Evan Blass has posted what appears to be an official image of the phone and it looks quite different. Here it is, the Motorola Edge 70. The lime green accents on the four raised circles on the camera island (three cameras and one LED flash) and the matching button on the side were not seen in the old image. iPhone Air vs. the bend test: can Apple's slender 5.6mm phone survive?

The iPhone Air is the last model that Apple still makes with a titanium frame – this year, the Pros switched to aluminum, just like the vanilla model (singular now that the Plus is gone). Why? Durability is a major concern with a device that measures only 5.6mm thick, especially with a large 6.5” display on the front. That display is where JerryRigEverything’s durability tests start. The new Ceramic Shield 2 is 3x harder to scratch, according to Apple. According to EU’s new Energy label, it is a 5 on the Mohs scale, up from a 4 on the previous Ceramic Shield. Does that mean that the...

We all wanted to know how well it did in a bend test (spoiler alert: it did great), and now we want to know what it's like on the inside. Reparability experts iFixit are on the case as usual, and have made two important discoveries, one of which is quite unexpected. First, the iPhone Air is surprisingly easy to get into and repair, and got a relatively high score from iFixit. It still uses the uncommon pentalobe screws and the display and the back glass are still glued in....

Durability test confirms iPhone 17 Pro series vulnerable to scratches

It’s been a while since the iPhone had a ‘-gate’ controversy, but the new iPhone 17 Pro lineup seems to have sparked one called ‘scratchgate’. Several users have claimed that the Deep Blue and Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max scratch far too easily. YouTuber Zack Nelson from JerryRigEverything, in his durability tests, found that the iPhone 17 Pro series scratches easily, particularly around the sharp edges of the large rear camera module. According to him, the issue lies in the anodized coating, which struggles to adhere to these sharp edges. The problem is especially...

Top 10 trending phones of week 38

Much like last week, our trending chart is dominate by Apple's iPhone 17 series, but there were some changes in the top four. Once again the Pro Max flagship ended up victorious, but the vanilla model replaced the Air in the second position. [#InlinePriceWidget, 13964, 1#] That probably doesn't bode too well for what Apple hopes to be its next iconic model, but it's not too far behind in third. The 17 Pro was once again the least popular member of the new lineup, but still managed to retain its fourth position. Samsung's Galaxy S25 Ultra gained a couple of spots to place fifth,...

Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra in for review

Samsung announced its lastest flagship tablet, the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, earlier this month during the annual IFA in Berlin, and now we have it in the office and about to start working on its review. The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra is an impressive device with its massive 14.6-inch display. The panel remains unchanged from last year, but that's not an issue given that the screen was excellent in the first place. It offers supports 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+. The chipset gets an upgrade, though, from last year's Dimensity 9300+ to 9400+ now. Memory configurations still span from...

Check out the first iPhone Air benchmarks: how did its Apple A19 Pro do?

In line with its traditions, Apple announced the new iPhone series with a new in-house chip, which is now called Apple A19 Pro. The chip powers the new iPhone 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max and the iPhone Air, which replaces the 16 Plus from a year before. Only the vanilla iPhone 17 runs on the non-Pro version of the new chipset. While we are working on the full iPhone 17 series reviews, we compiled some early benchmarks to give us an idea of the iPhone Air's performance with the A19 Pro on board. The A19 Pro inside the Air isn't the full-fledged SoC that's inside the 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max. It...

Weekly poll results: the iPhone 17 challenges the 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max is the most popular

Last week, we asked you which (if any) of the new iPhones you would buy. We are now looking at the results and, unsurprisingly, the vanilla model is eating into the small Pro’s market share, while the big Pro Max is the most popular. The Apple iPhone 17 may be the big winner this generation, at least in terms of improvement over its predecessor. With a number of significant upgrades and staying at the same price as last year, many will flock to this model - including people that in previous years would have gone with a Pro. The vanilla model is 29g lighter than and has a, how shall we put...

The OnePlus 15 is coming soon, most likely in October, and ahead of that it's been doing the usual certification dance left and right. The latest certification for the upcoming device comes from SIRIM in Malaysia. While not revealing any of its specs, this certification is nevertheless very useful since it confirms that the global OnePlus 15 has the model number CPH2747. On the other hand, the Chinese version has the model number PLK110, as revealed earlier. That one was spotted on Geekbench recently with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC on board, and it managed a very good score -...

Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max in for review

Apple didn’t rename the Pro Max model to “Ultra” as some rumors suggested, but it did significantly rework the design and it upgraded a lot of the hardware too. And a lot of that is new materials. The company introduced its first stainless steel phone, the iPhone 4, way back in 2010, but switched to aluminum with the iPhone 5. These past couple of years, Cupertino experimented with titanium to try and fight the steadily increasing weight of the Pro and especially Pro Max models. The experiments are over and this year Apple is using aluminum for all models but the Air. The iPhone 17...
